Born in Kanazawa, Japan. She graduated from Toho Gakuen School of Music and completed master's course. In '95 she was awarded the 5th prize at Int'l Chopin Competition. She received the 23th Japan Chopin Association Award and others. She studied under Sadako Matsuoka, A. Jasinski, P. Paleczny, H.C. Stefanska and Takahiro Sonoda. So far she gave recitals in Salle Pleyel (Salle Chopin) in Paris, Castle Grafenegg in Vienna, Warsaw Philharmonic Symphony Hall in Poland and Nové Město in Czech Republic, and was invited to Duszniki International Chopin Festival, the concert of the 150th anniversary of Chopins Death in '99 (in four cities in Poland), the concerts of Japan Foundation in '02 (in two cities in Poland, four cities in Spain) and the Japan-China Friendship Concert in Suzhou, China. In '01, '04 and '09 she performed with Leipzig String Quartet and in '10 with Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra (under the baton of L.Svarovsky). In '05 she was on the jury at the Chopin Competition hold by Japan Chopin Association. She gave a decade-long recital series in from 2000 to 2010 in celebration of Chopin's Birth anniversary. That was highly acclaimed. She does many kinds of activities, such as giving recitals, chamber music concerts, lectures, and school visits for having concert, etc.

She has a reputation for her intelligent, colorful performance and high planning ability having insight into the needs of the audiences. In '08 her first book “Rika-rin no ojama shimasu!” was published. 9 solo CDs have been released so far. Her CD “SCHERZO” ('09), “SONATA” ('10) from “Rika Plays Chopin” series, the new CD “Brin” ('11) from “Rika Plays Fantaisie” series and “GRACE”('11), the debut CD of Piano duo “Duo Grace” with Takako Takahashi, who was also awarded 5th prize at 12th Int'l Chopin Competition, were selected as special selections of “The Record Geijutsu” magazine.
The latest CD “Rain Tree” ('12) includes C. Debussy and T. Takemitsu.
